United Way Campaign Begins in Somerset County Public Schools

The first United Way of the Lower Eastern Shore school meeting for Somerset County Public Schools was held at Princess Anne Elementary School on September 30, 2013.  In the photograph from left to right are United Way Executive Director Kathleen Momme, Principal Cortney Monar and Vice Principal Elizabeth Marshall.  Momme shared information about the number of programs supported by United Way, especially a reading program in which students receive a book per month for five years and a $176,000 grant that is being used to help people remodel or rebuild after the devastating effects of Hurricane Sandy.  Her presentation had a number of enlarged photographs and a video which were powerful reminders of how people are being helped in  Somerset County by the United Way.

Momme serves on the Somerset County Long Term Relief Committee helping to provide much needed assistance to those still recovering from last year's storm.  Monar challenged everyone on her staff to donate to the United Way.  School officials are hoping for a record year for donations.
